Telenor to invest 100 mn NOK in cloud by using AWS

Telenor Group has revealed its investment plans in cloud and partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to boost its offerings for enterprise customers.
Telenor grows in AsiaTelenor will expand its collaboration with Amazon Web Services to advance its sovereign cloud posture by using AWS’s sovereign-by-design technology, and leveraging Telenor’s strategic investment in Skygard.

At present, Telenor is building Skygard data centres with its partners in Norway.

In the first year, Telenor will invest approx. 100 million NOK in its sovereign cloud posture by using AWS and Skygard’s data centre. Telenor will offer AWS solutions to Norwegian enterprise customers, help to address their key sovereignty and security requirements.

Telenor will explore using sovereign-by-design AWS infrastructure to host its internal workloads in compliance with Norwegian regulatory requirements.

Telenor will accelerate the modernisation of telecommunications industry, by scaling its cloud footprint in Telenor Sweden, using cloud technologies from AWS. Telenor will also expand the collaboration to Finland.

Telenor said its modernisation program would transform current IT and technology infrastructure and data centre costs, while improving customer experience.
