MWC 2014: Sprint selects Kineto Smart Wi-Fi client for Wi-Fi calling

At MWC 2014 (Mobile World Congress), Barcelona, Kineto Wireless said American telecoms Sprint selected Kineto Smart Wi-Fi client for Wi-Fi calling.

With Wi-Fi Calling from Sprint, subscribers can use their voice and messaging services over existing home, office and public Wi-Fi networks. As a result, Sprint subscribers are expected to experience better quality voice and messaging coverage in the places they spend most of their time.

Jeff Brown, president and CEO of Kineto Wireless, said: “As most subscribers already use Wi-Fi at home and the office, it only makes sense to let them access to their mobile voice and messaging services over those networks. Sprint is again demonstrating its industry leadership by embracing Wi-Fi to help meet this need.”

Strategy Analytics says Wi-Fi is now installed in nearly two-thirds of all U.S. households, and a recent Deloitte study indicated nearly two-thirds of all U.S. smartphone users now prefer to connect to Wi-Fi for accessing the Internet.
