Bharti Airtel is leading the Indian wireless broadband market, ahead of Reliance Communications at the end of December quarter of 2013, TRAI data showed.
The Sunil Mittal-promoted Bharti Airtel has 9.49 million wireless broadband customers in India, TRAI said on Monday.
Reliance Communications is in the second position with 6.86 million customers. BSNL has 6.55 million wireless broadband customers, Idea 5.86 million and Vodafone 5.20 million. Interestingly, Tata Teleservices, Aircel and MTS India are not in the top five list of wireless broadband, TRAI statistics on telecom industry for December 2013 indicated.
TRAI said top five wired broadband service providers include BSNL with 9.98 million users, Bharti 1.39 million, MTNL 1.11 million, Hathway Cable 0.36 million and Beam Telecom 0.35 million.
Top five broadband service providers constitute 82.36 percent market share of total broadband subscribers. They are BSNL with 16.54 million users, Bharti Airtel 10.88 million, Reliance 6.98 million, Idea Cellular 5.87 million and Vodafone 5.20 million.
TRAI said total broadband (>512 Kbps) subscription is 55.20 million in December, 2013. Out of which, wired broadband subscription is 14.54 million, and wireless broadband subscription is 40.66 million.
