Infinera
Norrsken, a regional telecom operator in Sweden, has made investment in networks to offer 100G multi-service transport services.

Norrsken offers bandwidth over a network covering 58 towns and cities in 11 counties in the middle and north of Sweden, also covering the Stockholm area. Norrsken provides Layer 1 wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) services and Layer 2 Ethernet services to meet the demands of Internet service providers, carriers and other customers.

As per the deal, Infinera TM-Series metro 100G solution will support Norrsken to provide a packet-optical network featuring multi-service capabilities including MEF 2.0 certified Ethernet services and Optical Transport Network (OTN) aggregation engineered for services including enterprise, mobile backhaul, wholesale bandwidth and metro aggregation applications.

The Infinera TM-Series provides Norrsken with an optimized 100G transport solution which allows Norrsken to offload 100 gigabit Ethernet wavelengths on heavily trafficked routes. Infinera said it worked with local partner Fiberdata AB in Sweden on Norrsken’s network upgrade.

Bjorn Jonsson, CEO at Norrsken, said: “Norrsken already has TM-Series in our network and with the new metro 100G solution, we are now able to also provide 100G services to our customers, providing an even more scalable high capacity network.”
