Reliance Jio revenue, ARPU, 4G subscribers in Dec quarter

Reliance Jio, India’s #1 telecom service provider, has revealed major achievements during the December quarter of 2020.
Reliance Jio Digital LifeReliance Jio, a telecom venture promoted by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, reported revenue of Rs 19,475 crore (+5.3 percent) and net profit of Rs 3,489 crore (+15.5 percent over previous quarter) during the third quarter of fiscal 2020-21.

Reliance Jio’s customer base reached 410.8 million as on 31 st December 2020.

ARPU touched Rs 151 per subscriber per month, Reliance Jio said. Total data traffic rose 28.4 percent to 1,586 crore GB. Total voice traffic increased 18 percent to 97,496 crore minutes.

“Jio will accelerate the rollout of its digital platforms and indigenously developed next generation 5G stack and make it affordable and available everywhere,” Mukesh D Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, said.

Reliance Jio’s customer gross addition was 25.1 million despite Covid related constraints. Net subscriber addition of 40 million during CY20 is highest in the industry. Higher churn during the quarter at 1.63 percent due to continued impact of COVID and recent malicious and motivated campaigns against Reliance Group in select geographies.

Aaverage data consumption per user per month was 12.9 GB and average voice consumption was 796 minutes per user per month.

Reliance Jio’s FTTH services witnessed increased uptake on the back of unique offering and widespread network across the country.

Indigenously developed 5G Radio integrated with Jio’s 5G Core Network and 5G Smartphones achieved over the air throughputs in excess of 1 Gbps. In-house Massive MIMO and indoor 5G small cell are under advanced stages of development.

JioMeet crossed 15 million users during the quarter. JioMeet is evolving as a complete platform with solutions for different segments like large enterprises, healthcare industry, educational and government institutions.

Besides deploying IoT solutions for Jio Home users, the Jio pan India IoT network is operational for application in connected vehicles, smart metering, connected assets and hospitality.
