Reliance Jio Infocomm on Tuesday said it will be increasing its mobile tariffs in the next few weeks.
Both Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel announced they will increase voice and data tariffs on their mobile network from December.
Reliance Jio already started charging for making voice calling to its rival networks of Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL.
“Like other operators, we will work with the Government and comply with the regulatory regime to strengthen the industry to benefit Indian consumers and take measures including appropriate increase in tariffs in next few weeks in a manner that does not adversely impact data consumption,” Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, said in a statement.
Reliance Jio has added 69.8 lakh mobile phone users during September. Bharti Airtel has lost 23.8 lakh customers. Vodafone Idea lost 25.7 lakh users on a monthly basis, according to the September telecom data released by TRAI on Tuesday.
Reliance Jio’s net profit rose 45.4 percent to Rs 990 crore during the September quarter of 2019. The company’s operating revenue rose 33.7 percent year on year to Rs 12,354 crore. Reliance Jio has a mobile customer base of 355.22 million as of Sept 2019.
Vodafone Idea has posted a loss of Rs 50,921 crore for the July-September quarter. Vodafone Idea has 372.48 million mobile phone subscribers on its mobile network across India.
Bharti Airtel, the third largest mobile operator in India, posted loss of Rs 23,044 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2019. Airtel has 325.567 million mobile phone subscribers on its 2G, 3G and 4G network in India.
