Airtel has stopped its 3G services and will be migrating its phone customers in Kerala to 4G network. Airtel will continue to provide 2G services in Kerala.
Airtel’s 3G subscribers need to buy 4G smartphones in order to access 4G data services across Kerala. 3G customers, who are yet to upgrade their mobile phones / SIMs, will get access to voice services.

Airtel has re-farmed the 2100 MHz band, which was used for 3G, to strengthen its 4G network in Kerala. Airtel has re-farmed the 3G spectrum in order to further boost the network capacity and enhance the availability of Airtel 4G. Airtel 4G subscribers will receive better coverage inside buildings — homes, offices and malls and outdoors.

Airtel has a spectrum bank across 2300 MHz (TD LTE), 2100 MHz (LTE 2100), and 1800 MHz (FD LTE) to offer 4G services to customers in Kerala.
