The company achieved net profit margin of about 8 percent in Q1 2019, slightly higher than the same period last year.

Ericsson reported sales of SEK 48.9 billion or $5.252 billion (+7 percent) in the first quarter of 2019 — driven by strong growth in North America. Ericsson’s operating income was SEK 4.9 billion with operating margin of 10 percent.

Huawei, which is facing challenging market conditions in the US and some of the nations in Europe, did not reveals the revenue break up of its three main business divisions: phones, telecom carrier and enterprise.

Shenzhen-based Huawei is the world’s biggest telecoms equipment maker and the second largest smartphone maker. Huawei’s telecom network business saw its first drop in revenue in two years in 2018.

The below chart indicates that Huawei has generated 294.012 billion yuan from carrier business, 348.852 billion yuan from consumer business and 74.409 billion yuan from enterprise business.

CNBC earlier this month reported that its network equipment sales rose 15 percent while sales of the consumer business increased by more than 70 percent in the first quarter.
Huawei said its focus on ICT infrastructure and smart devices, and efficiency and quality of its operations helped contribute to its solid performance in Q1 2019.

Huawei said large-scale 5G deployment will bring unprecedented opportunities for growth in 2019. Huawei signed 40 5G network contracts with leading global carriers, and shipped more than 70,000 5G base stations to markets.

Huawei’s Enterprise Business launched its Digital Platform and its new Huawei Inside strategy. Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group also deployed the world’s first 5G-enabled Wi-Fi 6 access point. Huawei shipped more Wi-Fi 6 products than its rivals.

Huawei said it shipped 59 million smartphones during the first quarter of 2019 without revealing the comparative figures for the previous quarters. A research report from Strategy Analytics  showed that Huawei shipped 39.3 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2018.
