Telecom Lead America: Research In Motion (RIM),
makers of BlackBerry, has vowed to leave no stone unturned, as it is doing
everything that it can for creating a complete ecosystem around its upcoming
BlackBerry 10 Platform.
The company has released in beta the developer toolkit
for the BlackBerry 10 platform, which will allow developers to build and test
their apps in preparation for the BlackBerry 10 launch expected in the latter
part of 2012.
At BlackBerry World, the company has unveiled its vision
for the BlackBerry 10 platform and officially given developers the essential
tools for creating BB10 apps, including prototype hardware running the new
software.
The company is giving all developers attending BlackBerry
World a DevAlpha device. It’s also put the BlackBerry 10 native software
development kit (SDK) up for download.
Furthermore, the company revealed endorsements from a
number of key partners and announced that it has been working with app
providers to develop high-quality content and apps for BlackBerry 10
smartphones.
“The level of enthusiasm among developers for
BlackBerry 10 is amazing. The platform has been built to give developers the
ability to create amazing content and a great user experience. The support and
excitement we already see from developers is both rewarding and
encouraging,” said Martyn Mallick, Vice President, Global Alliances and
Business Development at Research In Motion.
The toolkit includes the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK with
Cascades, which allows developers to create graphically rich, high performance
native apps in C/C++ or the Qt Modeling Language (QML). The toolkit also
includes support for HTML5 app developers with the BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK.
While speaking in support of upcoming BlackBerry
platform, Poynt Corporation’s CEO Andrew Osis said that the Cascades framework
and QML support will allow the company to innovate the Poynt platform on
BlackBerry 10 devices by continuing to create compelling and engaging user
experiences.
“The official launch of BlackBerry 10 comes with
great anticipation from Gameloft. We are very excited to be able to provide
BlackBerry 10 users with high-quality gaming experiences for every type of
player,” said Ludovic Blondel, vice president of OEM at Gameloft.
A few months back, RIM introduced the new BlackBerry 7.1 OS with an update to its BBM
(BlackBerry Messenger). In addition, RIM also introduced BlackBerry Traffic and
BlackBerry Travel apps.
RIM launched BlackBerry Curve 9220 in India
Recently, the company launched BlackBerry Curve 9220 in
India. The smartphone is expected to be available in other markets starting in
the coming weeks.
