Jio to hire 80,000 employees during current fiscal

Jio for VoLTE serviceReliance Jio, the leading 4G operator, is planning to recruit 75,000-80,000 people during the current fiscal.

Sanjay Jog, chief human resources officer of Reliance Jio, said a large chunk of the new recruits will be freshers.

Reliance Jio, which launched 4G services in September 2016 taking on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, has more than 1.5 lakh employees on the rolls now.

The fourth largest telecom operator company would bank on its partnerships with about 6,000 colleges across the country as well as employee referrals as part of the strategy to attract talent from smaller towns.

“These are technical colleges, graduate colleges, ITIs… where we have encouraged people to come and work for us during their summer vacation,” he said on the sidelines of a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) conference on Thursday.

Reliance Jio is facing 32 percent attrition rate in sales and technical areas. The attrition rate   at headquarters in Mumbdai is 2 percent. “On an average, attrition rate will come down to 18 percent. The average attrition rate in the telecom industry used to be 20-22 percent.”
