Vodafone announced that it has set up 9,200 plus mobile data sites — 3G and 4G — across 7,000 plus towns covering 35 districts of Maharashtra and Goa in the last 12 months.

Vodafone India has 20 million customers in Maharashtra and Goa. Vodafone does not reveal the 4G subscriber base.

“We have seen a rise in data consumption, both in urban areas as well as in rural pockets of Maharashtra & Goa. Our mobile data network expansion drive has accordingly kept pace to meet the growing demand of our customers across these states,” said Ashish Chandra, business head – Maharashtra & Goa, Vodafone India.

Vodafone is the second largest operator in the region with 19.89 million wireless customers in Maharashtra and Goa (excluding Mumbai). With 14.76 million, Airtel is the third largest telecom operator. Idea Cellular is the largest operator with 28.07 million customers. Reliance Jio has added 10.90 million subscribers.
