India telecom operator revenue plummets 26% in June quarter

ARPU of Indian operators in Q2 2017TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) today said Indian telecom operators’ Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) fell 25.49 percent to Rs 39,778 crore for the quarter ended June 2017 from the same period in 2016.

The drop in AGR was 2.58 percent as compared to the previous quarter.

Gross Revenue (GR) of Indian telecom operators reached Rs 64,889 crore, registering 11.53 percent drop compared to June 2016 and 2.58 percent decrease from the previous quarter.
India Telecom Financial Data for June quarter 2017Monthly Average Revenue per User (ARPU) for GSM service (including LTE) declined by 3.75 percent, from Rs 83 in March quarter of 2017 to Rs 80 in Jun quarter of 2017. Monthly ARPU for GSM service (including LTE) declined by 36.87 percent year on year in this quarter.

The blended ARPU per month declined from Rs 83 in March quarter of 2017 to Rs 80 in June quarter of 2017.

ARPU for pre-paid segment declined from Rs 67 in March quarter of 2017 to Rs 65 in June quarter of 2017. ARPU per month for postpaid segment also declined from Rs 412 in March 2017 to Rs 389 in June 2017.

The License Fee declined 2.99 percent quarter on quarter and 24.42 year on year to Rs 3,261 crore for June quarter of 2017.

TRAI said access services contributed 75.63 percent of the total Adjusted Gross Revenue of telecom services in India. In Access services, Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR), License Fee and Spectrum Usage Charges (SUC) declined 4.79 percent, 5.26 percent and 4.61 percent respectively. Gross Revenue (GR) and Pass Through Charges increased 0.79 percent and 13.48 percent respectively.
