Top ISPs in India in Q4 fiscal 2017TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) said India has 422.19 million (+7.84 percent) Internet users in the country in Q4 fiscal 2017.

India’s broadband subscriber base reached 276.52 million (+17.12 percent). India has a wired Internet subscriber base of 21.58 million. India’s wireless Internet subscriber base was 400.62 million.

Urban Internet subscriber base was 285.68 million, while rural Internet subscriber base was 136.52 million.

Internet density was 32.86 with urban Internet density of 70.83 and rural Internet density of 15.49 in India.

Wired Internet subscribers increased from 21.51 million in December 2016 to 21.58 million in March 2017 with quarterly growth of 0.33 percent.

Wireless Internet subscribers increased from 370 million in December 2016 to 400.62 million in March 2017 with quarterly growth rate of 8.28 percent.

Reliance Jio Infocomm is the number one ISP in India with 25.74 percent market share of internet subscriber market.

Bharti Airtel, the second largest ISP, has 20.70 percent share in the Indian internet market.

The above chart indicates that India has 129.32 million 4G subscribers in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2017 against 126.27 million HSPA / WCDMA (3G subscribers).

In wired internet segment, BSNL holds 61.06 percent market share with 13.17 million subscribers, followed by Bharti with 2.08 million subscribers. Total number of wired internet subscriber is 21.58 million.

In wireless internet segment, Reliance Jio holds 27.13 percent market share with 108.68 million subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel with 85.32 million wireless internet subscribers.
