IBM tops India non-x86 UNIX server Market in revenues

IBM announced that it emerged No. 1 in the India non x86
UNIX server market in revenue terms in the first quarter (Q1) of 2011,
according to IDC.

 

IBM’s success in the Non-x86 Unix market
segment in India was underpinned by strong uptake for Power7 servers.

 

 

According to the IDC’s quarterly market tracker, IBM
maintained its leadership in the India Non-x86 Unix server market capturing
42.1 percent revenue market share in Q1 2011, which is 11.7 points lead over
its nearest competitor. In addition, IBM’s non x86 UNIX server factory revenues
grew 6.5 percent year-on-year inQ1 2011 over Q1
2010), while revenues of all other vendors in the said segment declined during
the same period. IBM’s revenue growth in the Non-x86 Unix server segment in
India was driven by strong performance in the Financial Services, communication
and manufacturing verticals.  

 

 

IBM captured 28.1 percent revenue market share of the
overall server market in India in Q1 2011, with year on year growth of 6
percent. The overall server market in India during the same period grew by 9.3 percent in
revenue terms.

 

 

IBM had a 22.4 percent revenue share of the x86 server
market in Q1 2011. The overall x86 server market grew 24.5 percent year-on-year
in Q1 2011 in revenue terms.

 

 

With a 29.9 percent year-on-year growth in the x86 Blade server market, IBM
captured 33
percent revenue market share in Q1
