Vodafone India plans Rs 6,000 crore investment in Maharashtra

Vodafone investment in MaharashtraTelecom network operator Vodafone will be making Rs 6,000 crore investment in Maharashtra to enhance capacity and new business initiatives.

Earlier, Vodafone India announced Rs 13,000 crore investment.

Vodafone India CEO Sunil Sood made this commitment to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the recently held Make in India Summit in Mumbai.

As part of the investment program, Vodafone India will be expanding its technology center in Pune to develop products in both engineering and IT for Vodafone companies globally.

Vodafone India will also be making investment in networks to voice and data capabilities and add new technologies.

Vodafone will also spending on Tier-4 data center in Airoli, near Mumbai.

Vodafone will invest in setting-up a payment bank. This payment bank will be headquartered in Mumbai.

Vodafone will also increase its staffing levels to around 15,000 employees over the next few years.

“Vodafone India serves over 194 million citizens, of which almost 100 million are from rural areas. We remain deeply invested in and committed to Maharashtra and are pleased to announce our enhanced investments in the state,” said Vodafone India CEO Sunil Sood.
