Huawei Marine Networks today announced its deal to build the Malaysia-Cambodia-Thailand (MCT) submarine cable system.
Telekom Malaysia, Symphony Communication and Telcotech are the members of the consortium
As per the system design and construction deal, Huawei Marine will deploy its optical amplifier that supports up to 6 fiber pairs and utilizes a slim-line titanium housing to reduce the operational costs.
The MCT cable system, spanning nearly 1,300 km, will provide connectivity between Cherating in Malaysia and Rayong in Thailand with a branching unit connecting from the main trunk into Sihanoukville in Cambodia. There will be connection to terrestrial based networks to access to countries such as Laos and Myanmar.
Huawei Marine Networks in a statement said that the MCT cable system adopts the latest 100G technology with a design capacity exceeding 30 Tbps. The system will be commissioned and ready for commercial service by the end of 2016.
