Nokia Networks will upgrade MegaFon’s nationwide network in Russia. The Finnish telecom network vendor will build a 4G network based on the company’s Single RAN technology to benefit from better capacity, data rates and low latency.

Nokia Networks will provide its Single RAN Advanced platform, based on the Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station.

Evgueny Chermashentsev, director for Infrastructure at MegaFon, said: “Nokia NetAct network management system will be updated to ensure consolidated configuration, monitoring, management and optimization of the operator’s network.”

Nokia Networks said it supplies LTE to 9 of the 10 largest operators globally by LTE subscriptions.
