Airtel Africa to offer Thuraya Satellite services in 12 countries

Telecom service provider Airtel Africa will be distributing Thuraya Satellite services in 12 countries.

Currently, Airtel customers in Congo B, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia can buy Thuraya’s satellite phones and IP+ broadband terminals.

Airtel Africa will expand Thuraya Satellite services into its five remaining markets to offer telecom services even in remote areas.

The strategy is to tap enterprises and high value customers.

Andre Beyers, chief marketing officer, Airtel Africa, said: “Our deal with Thuraya demonstrates Airtel Africa’s commitment to deliver innovative products that offer 100 percent coverage within the 17 markets we cover.”

Bilal El Hamoui, vice president of Commercial at Thuraya said: “Thuraya recognizes the importance of connecting Africa’s most remote regions, which will enable businesses and communities to thrive and grow.”
