Avaya selected for U.S. General Services telecommunications contract

Avaya Government Solutions, a subsidiary of
Avaya, announced it has been awarded prime contractor status on the U.S.
General Services Administration (GSA) Connections II telecommunications
contract.

The contract, to be shared among 21
companies, is valued at up to $5 billion over 9 years and 3 months.

Avaya Government Solutions is one of two
awardees with a telecom original equipment manufacturing (OEM) pedigree.

The Connections II contract is a follow-on
to the original GSA Connections vehicle that expires in January 2012.

Connections II can be used anywhere in the
world by all federal agencies and entities as well as by authorized state,
local and tribal governments.

Connections II will provide the federal
government with a one-stop shop for telecom and networking infrastructure
solutions and services. This includes technologies for building and campus
facility communications planning, operations, administration and management,
customer service, and technical support.

Agencies can request work from any
combination of these solutions sets or request an entirely new
telecommunications solution. Because of its comprehensive scope, Connections II
can also be used to deliver integration planning, transition planning, legacy
system support, infrastructure installation, system implementation and more.

“We’re delighted to have been awarded
this important telecommunications procurement vehicle by the GSA. We believe
that there’s a significant added value that we can bring to federal agency
users of Connections II since we are both an experienced integrator and a
manufacturer of innovative communications solutions,” Chris Formant,
senior vice president and president, Avaya Government Solutions.
