LG Mobile smartphone Q2 shipments up 20% to 14.5 million

LG Mobile Communications today said its smartphone shipments in the second quarter rose 20 percent to 14.5 million.

LTE products account for more than one-third of all LG smartphones sold this year.

LG Mobile Communications Q2 sales increased 16 percent to $3.51 billion.

The mobile division has also made an operating profit of $83.4 million, after posting losses in three consecutive quarters.

Initial popularity of the LG G3 in the Korean market and sales of L Series III smartphones were the main growth drivers.

LG plans to continue its rollout of the G3 and introduce more mass tier products in the second half, including variations of the LG G3, such as the recently announced G3 Beat, and additional L Series models.
