Airtel achieves 100 company-owned retail stores in 14 months

Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel today said it opened 100 company-owned-company-operated (COCO) Airtel retail outlets in the country over the last 14 months.

Bharti Airtel, which has 200 million plus customers across India, said its stores offer service support for Airtel mobile, dongle and broadband connections.

Srini Gopalan, director – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel said: “As a one-stop-shop for all customer needs, Airtel stores also offer an exhaustive collection of devices including phones and tablets to help customers choose from the latest in mobile technology.”

Airtel expanded its retail presence to 35 cities and towns across 14 states since opening the first Airtel store at South Extension (New Delhi) in February, 2013. Airtel stores employ over 1,000 staff members.

The new Airtel stores also has outlets that will be run as well as managed by women employees, and will focus on addressing the needs of female customers across the country especially tier 2 and 3 cities.

Existing Airtel Relationship Centers (ARC) will also be transformed to offer similar service experience as the Airtel Stores.

Franchisee stores have also been provided infrastructure and training to be able to equip themselves with enhanced customer service delivery mechanisms.

Customer experience matters

Vodafone, which has more than 160 million mobile users in India, recently utilized Augmented Reality to create a Vodafone 3G world. The Vodafone 3G world with live size augmented reality screens was on display across locations in Delhi and NCR.

In addition to Augmented Reality, the telecoms promoted Vodafone 3G through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). When the user wears the RFID tag and connects with Vodafone, the same is flashed on his/her Facebook profile highlighting that they were at the Vodafone 3G world.
