Apple launches TD-LTE capable iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display in China

Apple today announced TD-LTE capable models of iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display in China.

Apple said iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display models supporting TD-LTE also accommodate the TD-SCDMA mobile standard.

The focus on TD-LTE will benefit customers of China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, which are in the process of launching and expanding their 4G networks in the country.

The device vendor has already launched iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display WLAN + Cellular models in support of Personal Hotspot connectivity and other cellular technology (GSM/EDGE, DC-HSDPA, HSPA+) in China.

The price of iPad Air with WLAN + Cellular models supporting TD-LTE is RMB 4,488 for the 16GB model, RMB 5,188 for the 32GB model, RMB 5,888 for the 64GB model and RMB 6,588 for the 128GB model.

iPad Air with WLAN models without TD-LTE is priced at RMB 3,588 for the 16GB model, RMB 4,288 for the 32GB model, RMB 4,988 for the 64GB model and RMB 5,688 for the 128GB model.

Price of iPad mini with Retina display in China

The price of iPad mini with Retina display WLAN + Cellular models supporting TD-LTE is RMB 3,788 for the 16GB model, RMB 4,488 for the 32GB model, RMB 5,188 for the 64GB model and RMB 5,888 (RMB) for the 128GB model.

The retail price of iPad mini with Retina display WLAN models, without TD-LTE is RMB 2,888 for the 16GB model, RMB 3,588 for the 32GB model, RMB 4,288 for the 64GB model and RMB 4,988 for the 128GB model.

In February, Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel and Apple launched the TD-LTE version of iPhone 5s or 5c in Bangalore.

Last week, LG announced their TD-LTE smartphone on the Bharti Airtel network.

Airtel recently said 3G customers in Bangalore on iPhone 5s or 5c smartphones can start enjoying 4G speeds at same price points as their existing 3G plan/pack. While data browsing will be on 4G network, voice calls will be routed on 2G/3G seamlessly with the CSFB (circuit switched fall back) technology.
