uMAX to unveil Alvarion 4G wireless broadband network in Zimbabwe

Alvarion, a provider of optimized wireless
broadband solutions, announced that Zimbabwean wireless broadband provider,
uMAX, an operating division of Dandemutande Investments, has selected its
4Motion solution to the roll-out 4G network in Harare.

uMAX has commissioned Alvarion’s 4Motion solution to introduce Zimbabwe’s first 4G network for the delivery of
high-speed wireless broadband services to residential and business customers in
the 2.5 GHz frequency.

“Alvarion’s 4Motion allows us to deploy a
technologically proven, comprehensive solution, that will directly improve
customer experience and enable us to grow at a pace that suits our specific
needs,” said Russel Clinton, CEO of Dandemutande Investments.

uMAX will use Alvarion’s 4G solution to
deliver services such as VoIP, video-streaming and high-speed Internet. The
deployment of Alvarion’s end-to-end 4G solution is designed to supply its
residential and corporate customers with more advanced broadband services
enabled through USB dongles and other indoor and outdoor Customer Premises
Equipment.

“uMAX is a fast-growing wireless broadband
provider in an extremely dynamic market and our 4Motion solution will enable
them to move forward and expand their customer base at an opportune time,” said
Eran Gorev, president and CEO of Alvarion.

4Motion delivers ubiquitous wireless
broadband connectivity for the most demanding, bandwidth-hungry, packet-based
applications. It enables integrated mobile, nomadic and fixed connectivity in a
single base station that supports a mixture of residential and business users.
