Hewlett-Packard India on Thursday announced the price of its new tablets — HP Slate6 VoiceTab and HP Slate7 VoiceTab. HP is trying to take on top tablet vendors Samsung, Apple, Lenovo without fresh strategies.
While HP Slate6 VoiceTab is priced at Rs 23,688, HP Slate7 VoiceTab will cost you Rs 17,287 in India.
HP, which is trying to gain market share from tablet vendors such as Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, etc. does not have any unique strategy or pricing model.
The enterprise IT vendor will try to leverage from its large distribution network across the country. The price points announced today in Delhi in the presence of HP tablet brand ambassador Deepika Padukone are not suitable for Indian device users if HP is trying to get market share as well.
HP wants to play in the mid-range tablet market, which is dominated by Samsung at present. But HP does not have the recall in the tablet or consumer devices market. Enterprises demand can push the sale of HP tablets in India. But they do not look at voice facilities or Dual SIM convenience in their high-end tablets.
Rajiv Srivastava, vice president and general manager, Printing and Personal Systems, HP India said: “India’s next generation needs next generation tools – the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and Slate7 VoiceTab are engineered for the way they multitask and stay connected. These devices deliver performance people can trust – it’s more than a tablet and smarter than a phone.”
Some of the features of HP Slate VoiceTabs are appealing to both retail and enterprise users. For instance, these two tablets come with HP Connected Music for downloading and streaming music, HP Box Storage with free 25GB Cloud Storage for documents and files, HP ePrint application to Print wirelessly with a HP ePrint enabled printer, HP Connected Photo(8) for managing and storing your photographs, Kingsoft Office to open Office files such as Word and Excel and Skype and WeChat for instant messaging.
