Transportation
American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld Alliance, plans to deploy 6,000 of the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices onboard select flights beginning later this year. The tablets will replace the airline’s current personal entertainment device in American’s premium cabins on various transcontinental flights.
Last month, the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab on the Sprint network was selected by Veolia Transportation to be embedded into 1,000 SuperShuttle vans and ExecuCar sedans, to support communication efforts of the 24/7 transportation delivery operation.
Education
With the commencement of the 2011 fall semester, the University of Southern Mississippi will offer up to 1,000 Galaxy Tab 10.1 mobile tablets, loaded with Blackboard Mobile Learn, to students participating in an Honors College pilot program. The goal of the mobile initiative is to provide students with privately funded tablets focused on enhancing access to education.
Arizona State University has chosen to distribute Samsung Galaxy Tab units to students enrolled in several ASU College of Nursing & Health Innovation pilot programs.
