Digi launches enterprise class cellular router

Digi
International announced
the launch of the Digi TransPort WR21, a low cost, enterprise-class 2.5G/3G/4G
cellular router for network back-up and remote device connectivity
applications.

The
compact, flexible router offers feature sets which scale from basic
connectivity to high-end routing with advanced functionality such as dynamic
routing, security and firewall capabilities and optional two-port Ethernet
switch.

No
other router offers the same level of high-end functionality and flexibility
for a similar price,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales
marketing,
Digi International.

The
Digi TransPort WR21 offers enterprise-class functionality in a compact
commercial-grade form factor for less than the price of most basic cellular
modems. From remote industrial applications to remote site network back-up,
customers can choose the right solution to fit their needs,” Kraft added.

Comms365,
a mobile data aggregator and provider of innovative fixed IP 3G services for
M2M applications, uses the Digi TransPort WR21 for 3G connectivity to its
customers’ remote devices and for network backup applications.

We’ve
been using Digi TransPort technology for more than five years and have routers
deployed in hundreds of customer sites. The Digi TransPort WR21 delivers a
great value and is ideal for our range of Managed Service propositions. From
point-of-sale, out-of-band management, telehealth and transportation to complex
managed IP-VPNs, it features the high-end routing and security features we need
for easily connecting our customers’ devices in virtually any application,”
said Mike van Bunnens, managing director, Comms365.

The
Digi TransPort WR21 is also ideal for connecting remote devices in energy
management, medical, industrial, point-of-sale, kiosk, lottery and financial
applications and is available in standard and enterprise-class software
versions.

The
standard router features an RS-232 serial port, one Ethernet port, two SIMs,
basic routing, IP Passthrough, IP Filtering, Digi SureLink and Digi RealPort
COM port redirector. Options include a RS232/422/485 serial port, two Ethernet
ports, and high-end dynamic routing protocol support with integrated VPN and
stateful firewall.

Qualcomm Gobi 3000 technology
is also available providing carrier agility by allowing a single router to
operate on multiple 3G/4G HSPA/HSPA+/EVDO carrier networks with fall back all
the way to 2G.

Digi
remote management software, including cloud hosted iDigi Manager Pro, provides
easy setup, configuration and maintenance of large installations of remote Digi
TransPort devices.
