Intex sells over 4 lakh smartphones last quarter

Intex Technologies has sold over 4 lakh smartphones in last quarter and is planning to sell 3 million this fiscal year.

In May 2013, Intex sold 7 lakh mobile phones (both smartphones and feature phones). Out of this, Aqua range of smartphones contributed over 1 lakh.

“This widespread acceptance is testimony to our differentiated and rich product portfolio, which is backed by a strong service and support network,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, GM-Mobility Division, Intex Technologies.

The smartphone strategy of Intex is to launch new smartphones that will assist the company to achieve the 3 million smartphone sales target.

In June, Intex Technologies said it would launch 20 new smartphones in the next quarter. Intex has already launched 12 mid-segment smartphones under its Aqua range.

Most of its smartphones are available from 15,000 distributors, reseller outlets and more than 40 Intex Squares (exclusive retail stores), several hypermarkets and e-commerce portals across the country.

Today, Intex announced the launch of two entry level 3G smartphones –Cloud X4 and Cloud Y2.

Cloud X4 has been priced at Rs 4,590, while the price of Cloud Y2 is Rs 6,190.

Cloud X4 specifications

Intex Cloud X4 is a dual-SIM phone which comes with a 3.5-inch WVGA display offering 320×480 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by 1GHz processor with 256 MB RAM and 512 MB of ROM. Storage space can be enhanced up to 32GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The phone sports a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with a VGA front camera. Other features include a 1,500 mAh battery that delivers up to 7 hours of talktime and 300 hours of standby time.

Cloud Y2 specifications

Cloud Y2 features 4.0 inch screen and is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor; 512 MB RAM and 4GB ROM. The 3G phone can be upgraded to 32GB of memory with the use of memory cards. The four-inch display has a resolution of (480×800 pixels) with a 5.0 MP (rear) with flash and 1.3 MP (front) camera.

Operating on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the phone has 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and Wi-Fi connectivity options. It has 1500mAh lithium-ion battery that offers a talktime upto 7 hours and standby of 300 hours.
