Idea Cellular on Thursday said it invested Rs 330 crore as Capex (capital expenditure) in the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
The capex of Rs 330 crore for the quarter has been funded out of cash profit of Rs 1744 crore.
As part of its expansion, Idea Cellular rolled out 2,114 GSM cell sites and 341 3G cell sites during the quarter, taking EoP site count for GSM to 90,094 and 17,481 for 3G sites.
In FY 2013, Idea Cellular had 17,140 units of 3G sites and 90,094 units of 2G sites.
The Capex guidance for FY 2014 stands at Rs 3500 crore, excluding any spectrum related payout.
Meanwhile, Idea Cellular’s consolidated revenue rose to Rs 6,538 crore in Q1 FY 2014 from Rs 5,503 crore in Q1 FY 2013.
Its net profit rose to Rs 462 crore from Rs 234 crore.
Idea Cellular says the standalone voice minutes expanded 12.5 percent on y-o-y basis to 147.3 billion in Q1 FY 2014 supported by net annual new customer addition of 7.8 million, cumulative subscriber base reaching 125 million as on 30th June 2013.
The incremental annual data customer addition was 12.6 million and the total data subscribers stand at 30.9 million. Idea Cellular’s data volume growth exploded at 92.2 percent to 13.8 billion.
The data as a percent of service revenue improved 2.7 percent in one year. Idea Cellular’s mobile data contributes 7.2 percent to service revenue.
The ARPM (Average Realized rate Per Minute) improved by 2.5 paisa per minute (6 percent) to 43.7p/min.
Idea Cellular’s value added service contribution increased to 16 percent from 15.2 percent in Q4 FY 2013.
