BSNL to set up 200 additional mobile towers in Maharashtra telecom circle

The state-run BSNL is planning to set up 200 additional mobile towers in the Maharashtra telecom circle.

The company will be sharing these telecom sites with other telecom service providers.

BSNL General Manager (Maharashtra Circle) said that the towers are likely to be set up in two months. Also in pipeline are 200 independent towers exclusively for BSNL mobile services.

At present, Maharashtra has around 900 BSNL mobile towers in addition to 1,200 towers, which the service provider shares with other telecom companies. ( BSNL to deploy 108 WiMax towers in J&K for Rs 12.8 crore )

BSNL has written to higher authorities seeking standardisation of rates for laying telephone cables. PMC and PCMC have different rates for laying telephone cables. BSNL has requested the chief secretary to standardize rates.
