Idea Cellular prices new Android 3G smartphone at Rs 6,490

Telecom Lead India: Idea Cellular, 3rd largest telecom operator, has priced its new Android 3G smartphone at Rs 6,490.

Aurus 2 — its first Jelly Bean based device – is powered by a 1 GHz

Processor, and offers video-calling facility for 3G aspirants.

It is a dual-SIM phone that will enable Idea Cellular to target existing 2G users who wish to upgrade to 3G in semi-urban and rural markets.

Idea’s 3G smartphone has a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with display that supports 320 x 480 pixel resolution.

The 3G smartphone offers internal memory of 4GB ROM along with 512 MB RAM.

The smartphone sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom along with a front facing VGA camera and supports video calling.

“Idea focuses on bringing the best of 3G technology at affordable price to our subscribers, thereby maintaining an equilibrium between both cost and technology. We are encouraged by the response to our 3G smartphones, having sold over 300,000 3G smartphones over the last one year,” said Sashi Shankar, chief marketing officer – Idea Cellular.

For a data pack of Rs 261, Aurus 2 users can get 1.6 GB of 3G data and Idea TV subscription free for the first 3 months.
