Vocalocity and Aptela merge to create hosted communications provider for small business

Vocalocity, a cloud-based phone service for small
business, announced a merger with fellow hosted communications provider Aptela.

With the addition of Aptela customers, Vocalocity’s
customer base has grown more than 30 percent making it the fastest-growing
hosted communications service devoted to small business needs.

Financial terms of the deal between the two private
companies were not disclosed.

This merger opens up many new opportunities for
Vocalocity. Aptela employs some of the best people in the industry and has
great technology. Putting two companies together benefits both customer bases
and gives additional scale to Vocalocity.

Our larger scale accelerates our efforts to have the
highest quality, most beneficial phone system in the cloud for small
businesses. Together, we’ll be able to serve our customers better and with
increased innovation,” said Wain Kellum, CEO of Vocalocity.

The combined company now has nearly 100,000 network
endpoints and is approaching 15,000 accounts. Vocalocity
averages eight phones or terminal devices per account.

Aptela is recognized as an innovative leader in cloud
communications and we are excited to be part of Vocalocity,” said Mahesh
Paolini-Subramanya, co-founder and CTO of Aptela.

Once we realized that Aptela and Vocalocity had similar
strategies, it was clear that the combination would allow us to accelerate our
pace of innovation and simultaneously improve our ability to grow two key
factors in our progression to clear market leadership,” Paolini-Subramanya
added.
