PATS launches pay-by-phone parking

UNM Parking
& Transportation Services (PATS) and Parkmobile USA announced an innovative
new service that will allow students, staff, faculty, and visitors of UNM
to save time and money by using their mobile phone to pay for parking.

The service
is available at the Cornell Parking Structure and Yale Parking Garage and
allows users to purchase hourly parking using a smart phone application or by
simply calling Parkmobile. The service is also available over the internet.

The
integration of Parkmobile  greatly enhances the hourly parking experience for customers on-the-go,” said
Robert Nelson, interim director of PATS.

With
Parkmobile, drivers can easily purchase more parking time without having to
return to the parking location. This gives customers greater flexibility with
their time while on campus and provides an alternative to risking a citation.

Drivers can
sign up for Parkmobile for free at www.parkmobile.com, where they can also download an easy to
use mobile app available on the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. The Parkmobile
website also allows non-smart phone app users to register for the service.

Once
registered, drivers can purchase hourly parking through Parkmobile by simply
communicating their zone and parking space stall number and the amount of time
to be purchased to Parkmobile.

As an added
benefit, the service will automatically update users when their time is about
to expire via text message and will offer the opportunity to purchase more time
if needed.

Pay by phone
offers customers a new and better way to pay for parking.  Parkmobile
users have 24/7 access to their online account; they can print reports and
easily track their parking expenses. It’s much faster and more convenient,”
said Albert Bogaard, CEO of Parkmobile.

The new
service is currently only available in the Cornell Parking Structure and Yale
Parking Garage locations on campus. Cashless pay stations remain available at
each location and accept Visa/Mastercard enabled cards for non-Parkmobile
users.
