Andhra Pradesh govt. launches data centre powered by Wipro

Wipro Infotech announced the launch of the Andhra Pradesh State Data Centre, a Mission Mode Project under the national e-governance plan.

The Data Centre was inaugurated by the chief minister of
Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy in the presence of the Sanjay Jaju, secretary
to Government -IT&C and Sanjay Kumar, managing director of Andhra Pradesh
Technology Services (APTS). APTS is the nodal agency for the State Data Centre
project initiated by IT&C.

The State Data Centre will host applications and
data of various state departments to enable automation of government and
citizen services. Spread across 9000 square feet, the Data Centre has a
storage capacity of 50 TB, expandable to 200 TB. 

As part of the scope, Wipro has undertaken
complete design, supply and implementation of the physical and IT
infrastructure of the DC. This includes servers, storage, networks, security,
databases, software, network cabling, fire detection and control systems,
lighting, CCTV surveillance, UPS etc. Wipro is also currently managing the
entire operations of the DC on a 24×7 basis.

the Andhra Pradesh State Data Centre (APSDC) built by Wipro. The
state-of-the-art Data Centre is equipped with complete redundancy and all
set to power the state government’s Technology initiatives for better
governance and citizen services. The APSDC will cater to all the IT
requirements  of the State Departments,” said Ponnala Lakshmaiah, minister
for IT&C.

The State Data Centre is envisaged to establish a robust
infrastructure to enable the State government deliver services quickly and
effectively to all its stakeholders. We are honoured to have been part of
the AP government’s  initiative to use technology for increased
transparency and efficiency in governance. Given our two decades experience in
the IT  infrastructure space, process orientation and knowledge of global
best practices, we look forward to engaging with the State government in many
more IT initiatives,” said Vivek Sharma, general manager and business head,
Government and Defence vertical, Wipro Infotech. 

Wipro BPO recently announced
that TalkTalk Telecom Group, UK’s provider of fixed line broadband and voice
telephony services to consumers and business users, has selected Wipro BPO as
one of its strategic partners for its outsourced contact centre
operations.
