Hathway Cable deploys 1.7 million STBs in cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata till October 2012

Telecom Lead India: Hathway Cable & Datacom said it and its joint venture partners deployed 1.7 million STBs in cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata till October 2012.

As part of rolling out DAS in Phase I cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, this is the highest deployment among the Cable MSOs in India as on date.

Hathway Cable has access to an inventory of 0.6 million (excluding STBs in transit) in hand. This gives the company an opportunity to seed STBs in excess of 2 million in total in Phase 1 cities.

On a consolidated all India basis, Hathway, its subsidiaries and JV partners have reached 3 million Digital Subscribers as of end October 2012.

The company has concluded deals with all major broadcasters to publish packages for DAS subscribers along with the Ala Carte rates.

Meanwhile, Hathway Cable & Datacom’s standalone operating revenues for the Quarter ended 30th September, 2012 touched Rs 1,32.5 crore, up 3 percent.

EBITDA was Rs 20.8 million.

To achieve targets for the Phase 2 digitization project, the company has started rolling out STBs in cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Thane, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Baroda, Aurangabad, NCR, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur etc.. The Company is present in over 65 percent of the cities falling within Phase 2.

Meanwhile, Hathway’s gross additions to broadband subscriber base were around 26000 for the quarter. The cumulative subscriber base is 417000. The company continues to ramp up on its’ FOS for corporate / SME sales. The company’s broadband service network passes almost 1.5 million homes.
