Ghana Sets Stage for Fair 5G Era with Simultaneous Nationwide Rollout
Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has announced that the country’s 5G rollout will be implemented as a nationwide launch accessible to all telecom operators at the same time. The move is intended to create a level playing field and prevent any single operator from gaining an early advantage in deploying next-generation mobile services. According to the minister, the National Communications Authority will manage the spectrum auction and oversee the rollout framework.
MWC26 Power Move: U Mobile Teams Up with Global Tech Giants to Advance 5G-A and AI Networks
Malaysian operator U Mobile announced several partnerships at Mobile World Congress 2026 to accelerate the development of 5G-Advanced, artificial intelligence and network security capabilities. The company signed memoranda of understanding with Huawei, ZTE and Palo Alto Networks. Under its collaboration with Huawei, U Mobile will explore 5G-Advanced innovations including a 3.5GHz dual-carrier trial, network slicing to enhance gaming experiences and AI-driven autonomous network operations targeting Level-4 automation. Meanwhile, the partnership with ZTE will focus on studying AI-native core network capabilities using the AIR Core platform as part of the operator’s next-generation network development plans.
