Hughes Network Systems presented its latest product and
service innovations at its annual seminar in Singapore on June 22, held during
the CommunicAsia2011 conference and exhibition.
“Hughes has been committed to the Asia/Pacific
marketplace since its early days and has established a wide and varied customer
base. Together with our service providers in the region, we are bringing our
superior broadband satellite solutions to a growing number of customers in the
enterprise and government/public sectors, helping to close the digital divide
and grow their local economies,” said Vaibhav Magow, regional manager for
Asia/Pacific at Hughes.
ArisIskandar Musa, head of Product Development/Solutions
& Sales at Numix Engineering SdnBhd, a telecommunications and network
services company in Malaysia, presented an overview of its satellite-related
solutions which include Internet and telephony, customized private networks,
and back up and maritime solutions.
“Numix has been working with Hughes for the past
three years, operating both HN and HX Systems. We chose Hughes as a partner for
several reasons including the cost-effective and bandwidth efficient solutions
Hughes provides. In addition, due to the ACM (Adaptive Coding Modulation)
feature of Hughes technology, we are able to operate very high availability
networks. We also were very interested in the support for mobility on both the
HN and HX Systems,” said Musa.
Hughes continues to remain the undisputed leader in the
global VSAT
market, consistently holding more than 50 percent market share according to the
latest COMSYS VSAT report. In 2010 Hughes shipped a record of over 320,000
broadband satellite terminals globally and crossed the 2.5 million mark
cumulatively.
HughesNet consumer broadband satellite Internet service
is the world’s largest, with over 650,000 subscribers in North America; more
than 60 percent operate over SPACEWAY 3, the company’s Ka-band,
switch-in-the-sky satellite.
Jupiter is Hughes’ next-generation, Ka-band, 100+ Gbps,
high-throughput satellite system, with 100 times the capacity of conventional
Ku-band satellites and will be launched in the first half of 2012.
“This annual seminar is a highlight for all of us at
Hughes, bringing together satellite service providers from across Asia/Pacific
to share their experiences and give us valuable feedback. Continual active
dialog with our customers ensures that we design and build solutions that truly
meet their needs – enabling us to maximize the value of the latest technology
advances,” said Ramesh Ramaswamy, assistant vice president of International
Marketing.
