The proposed law seeks to improve prevention, investigation and enforcement measures, establish clearer penalties, and define responsibilities among relevant authorities. It is designed to enhance coordination between law enforcement agencies as the country continues nationwide crackdowns on scam operations. Officials plan to finalize revisions before submitting the draft to the Cabinet for approval.
Memory Price Surge Sends Shockwaves Through Global Telecom Broadband Plans
Rising global prices of DRAM and NAND memory chips are disrupting telecom broadband expansion, potentially slowing deployments of fixed wireless access routers and set top boxes for operators worldwide, according to Counterpoint Research. Memory costs have surged sharply, with some components rising more than 600 percent year on year, and are expected to remain elevated until mid-2026. The increase is affecting network equipment procurement and putting pressure on large scale connectivity projects, including broadband rollouts in India such as BharatNet. Vendors including Ericsson and Nokia have acknowledged cost pressures during earnings calls and are focusing on securing supply and managing expenses amid sustained demand from AI and data centres.
