Netherlands Gets a Greener 5G Boost: VodafoneZiggo Taps Ericsson for Major Network Upgrade

VodafoneZiggo has signed a three-year deal with Ericsson to modernise around 3,000 mobile sites across the Netherlands using UltraLight AIR 3255 Massive MIMO radios, which are 58 percent lighter and cut energy use by up to 63 percent. The investment focuses on boosting speed, capacity and network reliability while reducing carbon footprint and operating costs. By upgrading to more efficient 5G-ready technology, VodafoneZiggo aims to deliver faster data services and stronger indoor and outdoor coverage for customers nationwide.

Nokia & OneLayer Join Forces to Supercharge Private 5G Security

Nokia and OneLayer have partnered to strengthen security for private 5G/LTE networks, combining Nokia’s NetGuard security suite with OneLayer’s OT-focused asset management and zero-trust tools. The collaboration delivers deeper device visibility, micro-segmentation, anomaly detection, and faster threat response for mission-critical industries such as utilities and industrial networks. By investing in advanced protection for private wireless systems, the companies aim to reduce cyber-risk and improve operational efficiency for enterprise customers adopting industrial IoT.

Game-Changing 6G Breakthrough: AI Receiver Cuts Costs & Boosts Network Performance

Nokia Bell Labs and Rohde & Schwarz have introduced an AI-powered 6G radio receiver that uses machine learning to detect and correct signal distortions in high-frequency bands, improving uplink distance by 10–25 percent. The innovation enables operators to reuse existing 5G sites instead of building denser new towers, helping reduce deployment costs and speed up time-to-market. With a strong customer focus, the solution promises better performance, higher throughput, and lower power use.

Taiwan Makes History: Chunghwa Telecom Launches First Multi-Orbit Satellite Service

Chunghwa Telecom has secured approval to launch commercial satellite communications using SES’s medium-Earth-orbit network, becoming Taiwan’s first operator with a full multi-orbit licence. The investment expands its “sea, land, sky” ecosystem and complements existing low-Earth-orbit partnerships to boost national network resilience. Customers — including enterprises, government, remote communities, and maritime sectors — gain stronger backup connectivity when terrestrial networks fail, faster disaster-response links, and more reliable coverage in hard-to-reach areas.
