Zain Esports attract viewers for live streams of tournaments on Twitch and YouTube

Zain Group celebrated another successful year for Zain Esports, conducting 50 tournaments and activations across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq in 2024.

Since its 2021 launch, Zain Esports has attracted 70,000 participants and generated over 160 million social media impressions regionally. In 2024 alone, 820,000 unique viewers watched live streams of tournaments on Twitch and YouTube, and its social media following reached 210,000.

Zain’s strategic investments in 5G and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) have established a robust e-gaming ecosystem, with Zain Esports playing a pivotal role. Zain did not reveal its investment in Esports business and revenue.

Zain Esports achieved significant milestones across its operational markets in 2024.

In Kuwait, it hosted multiple offline FC tournaments with hundreds of gamers competing in 62 matches.

In Saudi Arabia, its local arm PLAYHERA continued to bolster the gaming ecosystem.

Bahrain saw the launch of the Zain University League, involving over 300 gamers in tournaments and workshops at the Zain Esports Lab.

In Jordan, Zain partnered with the First Jordan Gaming and Esports Summit and supported the Jordanian Esports Federation, holding events at its Dome venue.

In Iraq, Zain Esports participated in the Esports World Cup 2024 Tekken 8 and collaborated with ITEX on monthly esports tournaments.

Zain’s activities connect operating companies with gamers, offering high-value data services while entertaining spectators through live-streamed events and engaging social media content, Malek Hammoud, Zain Group Chief Investment and Digital Officer, said.

Zain Esports aims to leverage investments in network infrastructure to expand its gaming initiatives and competitions in 2025 and beyond.
