Optus Q2 2024 financial result and main achievements

Optus said its operating revenue declined 3.2 percent to A$1.722 billion during the first-quarter of fiscal 2025, reflecting lower ICT and project-based satellite revenues.

Optus, a leading telecom operator in Australia, has revealed that its mobile revenue grew 3.9 percent to A$1,332 million during April-June 2024.

Optus’ mobile service revenue rose 4.7 percent to A$1,005 million, lifted by price increases from postpaid plans and a higher prepaid customer base.

EBITDA of Optus was up 4.6 percent thanks to the improved mobile performance coupled with effective cost management. EBIT rose 58 percent as depreciation and amortisation charges fell from a lower asset base. In June 2024, Optus paid S$1.3 billion (A$1.5 billion) to acquire 900 MHz spectrum.

Optus has 10.505 million mobile phone customers that include 3.479 million prepaid, 5.97 million postpaid and 1.057 million IoT connected devices.

Optus has reported prepaid ARPU of $19; postpaid ARPU of $43; Connected IoT devices ARPU of $13 and blended ARPU of $32.

Optus has NBN 1,087,000 customers and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) customers of 219,000 at the end of June 2024. Blended Home broadband ARPU of Optus was $74.
