Globe Telecom Expands 5G Network Presence Across Philippines and Globally

Globe Telecom has expanded its 5G footprint both within the Philippines and internationally. As of the close of last year, the telecommunications giant added 894 new sites, marking a crucial stride toward empowering Filipinos worldwide with advanced technology.
Globe Telecom 5G networkThroughout 2023, Globe made notable progress in its 5G coverage, achieving 97.90 percent outdoor coverage in the National Capital Region and 92.36 percent in key cities across Visayas and Mindanao. This expansion translated into over 5.8 million devices being connected to Globe Telecom’s 5G network in December 2023 alone, highlighting the increasing adoption and demand for high-speed connectivity.

Adopting a strategic approach, Globe Telecom has been judicious in its spending on new 5G sites, taking into account prevailing market conditions and identifying viable use cases that can fully leverage the potential of 5G technology.

Furthermore, Globe Telecom has broadened its 5G roaming partnerships, now encompassing 156 global partners spanning across 82 destinations. Notably, the company has strengthened its presence in Africa with partnerships in Nigeria with MTN, Mauritius via Cellplus, and an impending collaboration with Kenya through Africell.

In Asia, Globe has extended its reach to Kazakhstan and Laos through partnerships with Tele2 and LaoTel, respectively.

Internationally, Globe has established 5G roaming partnerships in Germany with Emnify and E-Plus Mobilfunk, Hong Kong through China Unicom, Korea via LG Uplus, Malaysia in partnership with Cellcom and YTL, Norway through Mobile Norway, Sweden with Tele2 and COM4, and Thailand via DTAC.

Moreover, international visitors in the Philippines can now experience 5G speeds through Globe’s collaborations with international networks such as Dialog in Sri Lanka, Orange in Egypt, and Manx Telecom in the Isle of Man.
