EchoStar Completes Acquisition of DISH Network, Creating Global Connectivity Powerhouse

EchoStar Corporation has completed its acquisition of DISH Network Corporation on December 31, 2023.
Dish Network for businessThe acquisition was completed through a merger where a subsidiary of EchoStar merged with DISH Network, resulting in DISH Network becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar.

“This merger is a pivotal step toward our overarching objective of providing seamless connectivity to individuals, businesses, and entities across the globe,” expressed Hamid Akhavan, President and CEO of EchoStar.

The merger brings together DISH Network’s satellite technology, streaming services, and expansive nationwide 5G network with EchoStar’s top-tier satellite communication solutions, establishing a dominant force in terrestrial and non-terrestrial wireless connectivity.

Both entities exhibit strong momentum, evident in DISH Network’s 5G network coverage of over 70 percent of the U.S. population and EchoStar’s launch of the JUPITER 3 satellite, boasting significant capacity for converged terrestrial and non-terrestrial services.

The consolidated entity, headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, operates globally under an array of established consumer and business brands, including Boost Mobile, Boost Infinite, Sling TV, DISH TV, EchoStar, Hughes, and JUPITER satellite services, HughesON managed services, and HughesNet satellite internet.

“Our combined strengths in brands, technology, operations, and engineering uniquely position EchoStar to offer a compelling global package, connecting consumers to desired internet access, mobile phone services, television programming, streaming content,” John Swieringa, President, Technology & Chief Operating Officer of EchoStar, said.
