Current Chief Operating Officer Srini Gopalan will become Chief Executive Officer effective November 1, 2025, succeeding Mike Sievert, who will move into a newly created role as Vice Chairman.

Shares of T-Mobile dipped nearly 1 percent in premarket trading following the announcement, Reuters news report said.

Mike Sievert, who has served as CEO since April 2020, will play a key role by advising on long-term strategy, innovation and talent development while remaining on the board. Under his leadership, T-Mobile transformed into the world’s most valuable telecommunications company, adding more than $200 billion in market capitalization and becoming the only U.S. provider to lead in both wireless and broadband growth.

Srini Gopalan, a seasoned telecom and technology executive, joined T-Mobile as COO in March after serving nearly four years on its board. He previously held senior positions at Deutsche Telekom, Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone.

At Deutsche Telekom’s Germany business, Srini Gopalan is credited with doubling the company’s growth rate, scaling its fiber network to millions of homes, and achieving record mobile market share.

During his tenure as COO, Srini Gopalan has overseen T-Mobile’s Technology, Consumer, and Business groups, spearheading efforts to make the company the most data-driven, AI-enabled, digital-first operator in the industry. His customer-focused approach aims to enhance 5G leadership and expand into new markets.

“T-Mobile is better, stronger and faster today than when Mike took the helm nearly six years ago. I am committed to building on his legacy of putting the customer first while continuing to disrupt the industry,” Srini Gopalan said.
