SK Telecom develops 5G repeater to enhance 5G network coverage

SK Telecom mobile techSK Telecom has deployed a 5G repeater to expand coverage of its 5G trial network in Gangnam Station in Seoul, Korea.

SK Telecom said the 5G repeater — developed by the Asian telecoms — is designed to improve signals in blanket / shadow areas by amplifying 5G radio signals. The Korean telecom operator can utilize 5G repeater to enhance coverage of their 5G networks by eliminating shadow areas.
SK Telecom 5G RepeaterThe 5G repeater (built with SK Telecom’s independently developed 5G relay technology) is expected to resolve the issue of 5G coverage limitations caused by the propagation characteristics of radio signals at super-high / above-6GHz frequency bands.

SK Telecom said the 5G repeater will enable the mobile operator to build 5G networks in other traffic-concentrated downtown areas with greater ease.
