Orange starts 5G testing in Poland with Nokia

Orange has launched 5G testing in the city of Lublin, Poland in association with technology partner Nokia.

Ten Nokia 5G base stations operate in the Ponikwoda, Tatary, Wieniawa and Srodmiescie districts.

The trial enables data transfer speeds of up to 800 Mbit/s and utilizes 80 MHz on the 3.4-3.6 GHz frequency band. Besides Nokia’s 5G radio access technology and Nokia FastMile 5G Gateways for Fixed Wireless Access, Orange will use 5G smartphones in the trial, Piotr Kaczmarek, Nokia Country Senior Officer in Poland, said.

“We have been working on building Polish 5G for over a year now to choose the optimal solution for our customers and the development of the mobile network,” said Jean-Francois Fallacher, president of Orange Polska.
