Mobile operators and Microsoft are the top choice for IoT deployment

IoT vendor preferencesEnterprises are considering mobile operators and Microsoft as the most popular technology vendor choices for IoT deployments.

HPE, IBM, Oracle, Cisco Systems and SAP are behind Microsoft in terms of IoT vendor selection. Dell and Lenovo are not in the top list.

The top five list of IoT technology vendors comprises enterprise software suppliers, according to the latest enterprise IoT survey research from Strategy Analytics.

Google, Telit, Samsung, Aeris, Kore, PTC, Amazon, EMC, Blackberry and Ericsson are the other IoT vendors.

Some vendors are getting preference in select markets. For instance, SAP is ranked no.2 in Germany, Cisco ranked higher in the U.S. than other markets and Oracle ranked higher in France than other country markets.

Andrew Brown, executive director of Strategy Analytics, said the fact that no single tech vendor dominates enterprise consideration for IoT projects is a clear illustration of the complexity in deploying IoT.

David Kerr, senior vice president at Strategy Analytics, said the selection of mobile operators on top indicates the importance of wireless connectivity and expertise in this domain in the deployment and management of IoT.
