AT&T adds Indianapolis as seventh 5G city for 2018 launch

US wireless operator AT&T said it will introduce mobile 5G to customers in Indianapolis as part of its 5G investment strategy.
AT&T campaignIndianapolis will be AT&T’s seventh 5G city – joining Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Raleigh and Waco.

AT&T aims to add 12 cities to its 5G coverage this year.

“Whether you’re a retailer, car wash owner, hospital, manufacturer, public safety entity or a bank, we expect 5G will change the customer experience and provide economic opportunities for your business,” Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana, said

AT&T has invested nearly $425 million in Indianapolis  wireless and wired networks during 2015-2017 to boost reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and businesses. AT&T made more than 525 wireless network upgrades in the Indianapolis area by adding new cell sites in 2017.

AT&T launched 5G Evolution in Indianapolis last year offering peak wireless speeds of at least 400 Mbps. Indy was also one of the first US cities to get LTE-LAA technology receiving up to 1 gigabit per second speed.
