Reliance Jio inks telecom tower sharing deal with GTL

Reliance Jio Infocomm, a 4G LTE service provider in India, today announced its telecom tower infrastructure sharing deal with GTL Infrastructure.

Early this year, the Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Jio Infocomm announced similar deals with Ascend Telecom for 4,500 towers in June, Tower Vision for 8,400 towers in May, ATC India for 11,000 towers in April and Viom Networks for 42,000 telecom towers in March 2014.

GTL Infra, together with Chennai Network Infrastructure has a combined tower portfolio of more than 27,800 towers in 22 telecom Circles in India.

Sanjay Mashruwala, managing director, Reliance Jio Infocomm, said:: “Our mission is to launch a pan India next-generation voice and data services. We will build the same through a combination of own build and rented infrastructure. This agreement with GTL Infra is not only a step in that direction but will also help us accelerate our roll out.”
