PointRed Telecom to set up 4G equipment facility in India

Telecom Lead India: PointRed Telecom, a global 4G equipment
developer and manufacturer, is planning to set up 4G equipment manufacturing
facility in India in the next 12-18 months.

The company is planning to spin out Rs. 200 crore for
R&D and manufacturing purpose. At present the company has two such
facilities in Taiwan.

Balaji Kulothungan, CEO, PointRed Telecom, told Telecom
Lead, We are aiming at 15-20 percent market share in 4G space in India.”

Point Red’s leading product-line includes MicroRed ,
PointMAX and PointLiTE.

PointRed also has the distinction of being the only
Indian company in the 4G space whose products are certified by the WiMAX forum.

The company already holds significant market share in
developing economies such India, Africa and Latin America. PointRed is the
largest supplier of Mobile WiMAX equipments in India and worldwide.

The company says its geographical
advantage with its R&D in India and manufacturing hub in Taiwan provides
cost-effective offerings to the operators worldwide.
