India’s Broadband and Mobile Subscriber Base Shows Steady Growth in October 2025

India’s digital connectivity footprint expanded further in October 2025, with broadband and wireless segments recording consistent subscriber additions across wired, wireless, and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) categories, according to TRAI data.

The total number of broadband subscribers increased from 995.63 million in September 2025 to 999.81 million in October 2025, reflecting a monthly growth rate of 0.42 percent. Growth was driven by rising adoption across wired broadband, FWA, and mobile Internet services.

India had 44.82 million wired broadband subscribers in October 2025 from 44.40 million in September 2025. The country’s FWA broadband subscriber base also rose sharply to 13.18 million in October 2025, compared to 12.31 million a month earlier. Mobile Internet remained the largest segment with 941.82 million subscribers in October 2025, increasing from 938.92 million in September 2025.

Reliance Jio led the fixed wired broadband segment with 13.41 million subscribers. Bharti Airtel followed with 9.91 million, while Bharat Sanchar Nigam had 4.42 million. Atria Convergence Technologies reached 2.35 million subscribers, and Kerala Vision Broadband recorded 1.43 million as of 31 October 2025.

The number of wireline subscribers increased from 46.61 million in September 2025 to 46.75 million in October 2025, marking a net increase of 0.14 million and a monthly growth rate of 0.30 percent. India’s wireline tele-density rose from 3.287 percent to 3.294 percent. Urban wireline tele-density stood at 8.16 percent, while rural wireline tele-density was 0.55 percent. Urban users accounted for 89.36 percent of total wireline subscribers, with rural users comprising 10.64 percent.

Wireless adoption continued to expand. The total number of wireless subscribers, including mobile and FWA, increased from 1182.32 million in September 2025 to 1184.62 million in October 2025, a monthly expansion of 0.19 percent. Urban wireless subscriptions increased from 647.47 million to 647.82 million, while rural subscriptions rose from 534.85 million to 536.80 million. Monthly growth was 0.05 percent in urban areas and 0.36 percent in rural regions.

India’s wireless tele-density improved from 83.36 percent to 83.47 percent. Urban wireless tele-density dipped slightly from 126.62 percent to 126.50 percent, but rural wireless tele-density increased from 58.98 percent to 59.17 percent. Urban subscribers accounted for 54.69 percent of total wireless users, while rural subscribers represented 45.31 percent.

Pure mobile connections showed growth. Wireless mobile subscribers increased from 1170.44 million in September 2025 to 1171.87 million in October 2025, a monthly growth rate of 0.12 percent. Urban mobile subscriptions decreased from 640.17 million to 639.99 million, while rural mobile subscriptions increased from 530.27 million to 531.88 million. Monthly growth stood at -0.03 percent for urban users and 0.30 percent for rural users.

Mobile tele-density in India rose from 82.53 percent to 82.57 percent. Urban mobile tele-density decreased from 125.19 percent to 124.97 percent, while rural mobile tele-density increased from 58.47 percent to 58.63 percent. Urban subscribers represented 54.61 percent of total mobile users, and rural users accounted for 45.39 percent.

Machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity saw a significant boost, with M2M cellular mobile connections increasing from 94.57 million in September 2025 to 98.87 million in October 2025. Bharti Airtel led the segment with 59.59 million connections and a market share of 60.28 percent. Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio each held an 18.02 percent market share, while BSNL accounted for 3.68 percent of total M2M connections.
